Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Morning: Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, our representative will greet you and provide a brief orientation. You’ll then embark on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park, located in the northwestern part of Rwanda. The journey offers picturesque views of Rwanda’s rolling hills and lush landscapes.
Afternoon: Check into your selected lodge near the park. After settling in, enjoy a leisurely afternoon exploring the local area or relaxing at the lodge. Optional activities include visiting nearby communities to experience Rwandan culture and traditions.
Evening: Dinner at the lodge, followed by a pre-trek briefing to prepare for the upcoming adventures.

Day 2Mount Bisoke Hike

Early Morning: After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for registration and a briefing on the day’s hike. Mount Bisoke, standing at 3,711 meters, is known for its conical shape and a stunning crater lake at the summit.
Morning to Afternoon: The hike begins at 7:00 AM, led by experienced park rangers. The trail traverses diverse terrains, including dense forests and open moorlands. The ascent typically takes 4-6 hours, depending on individual fitness levels and weather conditions. Upon reaching the summit, hikers are rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding volcanoes and the Crater Lake.
Afternoon: After spending time at the summit, begin the descent, which usually takes about 2-3 hours. Return to the lodge for a well-deserved rest.
Evening: Dinner at the lodge, with an opportunity to share experiences and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking.

Day 3Gorilla Trekking Experience

Early Morning: Enjoy an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking protocols and safety measures. Volcanoes National Park is home to several habituated gorilla families, and trekking assignments are based on fitness levels and group size.
Morning to Afternoon: Accompanied by trained guides, embark on the trek to locate a gorilla family. The duration of the trek can vary from 2 to 8 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Once the gorillas are located, spend a magical hour observing them in their natural habitat, witnessing their behaviors and social interactions.
Afternoon: Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the late afternoon, you may opt for a cultural visit to the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about Rwandan traditions and dances.
Evening: Dinner at the lodge, reflecting on the day’s extraordinary experiences.

Day 4Golden Monkey Trekking and Departure

Early Morning: After breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing on golden monkey trekking. These endangered primates are known for their vibrant golden-orange fur and are endemic to the Virunga Mountains.
Morning: The trek to find the golden monkeys is generally less strenuous than gorilla trekking, as these primates inhabit the lower bamboo zones of the park. Upon locating the troop, spend an hour observing their playful antics and acrobatics among the bamboo trees.
Afternoon: Return to the lodge for lunch. After checking out, embark on the journey back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a brief city tour, visiting sites such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
Evening: Transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of an enriching Rwandan adventure.

Health Precautions: A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for entry into Rwanda. It’s also advisable to consult with a travel clinic regarding malaria prophylaxis and other vaccinations.
