Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kampala – Transfer to Fort Portal

  • Depart from Kampala in the morning and drive to Fort Portal. The drive takes approximately 5-6 hours, passing through scenic rural landscapes.
  • Check into your accommodation and relax for the rest of the day. Fort Portal, known for its lush surroundings and cool climate, offers a peaceful start to your journey.
  • Optional evening stroll to explore the town’s local markets and interact with the community.

Day 2Explore Semuliki National Park – Hot Springs and Wildlife Viewing

  • After breakfast, depart for Semuliki National Park, located approximately 1.5 hours from Fort Portal.
  • Begin your day with a visit to the Sempaya Hot Springs, a fascinating natural feature within the park. You will see two hot springs: the male spring, which erupts like a geyser, and the female spring, surrounded by steaming pools.
  • Afterward, embark on a nature walk to explore the park’s diverse flora and fauna, including primates, birds, and various reptiles. The park is rich in biodiversity and offers a chance to see Uganda’s unique rainforests and wetlands.
  • Return to Fort Portal for overnight accommodation.

Day 3Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru Caves & Hike to Crater Lakes

  • In the morning, head to the Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru caves, about 25 km from Fort Portal. These ancient limestone caves are a significant historical and cultural site. The caves are tied to local folklore, with some myths suggesting that they were once the dwelling place of the Batembuzi people.
  • After exploring the caves, enjoy a short hike to the nearby Crater Lakes, where you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of volcanic landscapes and serene water bodies formed in volcanic craters.
  • Afternoon at leisure: you can relax by the lakes, take a boat ride, or enjoy a cultural interaction with local communities before heading back to Fort Portal for the night.

Day 4Return to Kampala

  • After breakfast, begin the drive back to Kampala, reflecting on the incredible sights and experiences from your adventure in Uganda’s hidden gems.

  • Arrive in Kampala in the evening, where the tour ends.
